The Coolest Video Game Background Of All Time

Several video games have received praise for beautiful background artwork. Snerds will undoubtedly point out Donkey Kong Country, Turbo nerds might reference Beyond Shadowgate, and the so called retrogaming experts of today claim Symphony of the Night is the best 2D looking game period. These are all lies of course and so I present to you the coolest background of them all:

Super Mario Bros 2. Yes an NES game and yes the best Mario game ever made. The background is flat and simple using only one color; a perfect shade of purple that looks delicious enough to swallow. This background features none of the atrocity that is known as Genpei Toumaden or any silly rotation effects like Castlevania IV. This background is so well made that it would be impossible to recreate, even with the most advanced computer graphic software and hardware. The level is topped off with some well made brick and block tiles and colorful sprites, but hot dayuum is that purple background niiice!
